Absolutely fantastic book! I have had mine for years and it is thoroughly worn, but I still play out of it. I teach classical guitar and frequently suggest this book to my more advanced students.
It does require at least an intermediate sight-reading ability. No Tab. The pieces are all very good, ranging from some fairly ancient pieces such as, “Pavana in C” by Luis Milan through a full version of, “Asturias” (“Leyenda”) by Issac Albeniz. This book is not for beginners but is aimed at more advanced players. It has around 43 pieces and if you learned to play well all 43 pieces then you have made a major, MAJOR guitar accomplishment! My favorite of all the pieces is “Espanoleta” by Gaspar Sanz. It’s the full meal deal with both sections. Most versions of Espanoleta only have the 1st section.
Absolutely a excellent book and I can’t believe how inexpensive it is. You’d be making a mistake to pass this one up. Also it has very good left and right hand fingering suggestions. I really can’t say enough good things about this one, it’s a worn jewel that rarely stays more than a few hours on the shelf and is most always on my music stand either in front or behind other music.
